EP. 4: Tale of the Four Evangelists

Updated: Dec 29, 2024

There once were four calling birds who were all siblings and were taken care of by a supreme being. They were known amongst others for their extraordinary features. Each of them had their own unique and personalized trait they took pride in. Their glowy feathers shimmer and appear like jewels under the sunlight. Angel, is known for his soft, glowing white bundles of feathers. Lion, fierce, bold, and golden as the sun. Ox, natural, and earthy with a deep brown hint to his plumage. And Eagle, with his sharp yet majestic feathers of bronze. All of them were fond of literature and had a dream to write. To share gospels and fulfill their Father’s wishes.

But, despite the passion they had, they had one problem. They did not have the hands to obtain a quill; no way to let their thoughts pour onto paper; the fire burning in their hearts, yearning for the will to write, yearning for the capability. Cruel for them, because with minds are filled with thoughts. Hearts filled with opinions. Their Father, who had roots and the nature of immense wisdom, had no clue about their passion and wanted to know about it.

"My children, you have been good all your life. What do you enjoy doing, and dream of?" He asked his sons. The first one, Angel, responded with a transparent, honest answer. "I dream of literature, father, we all do. We wish to write, yet we do not have the hands and fingers to do so. We are not able to do any of the things we want!” He openly shares. The rest of the birds agree. All of them have the fear of disappointing their Father. But their Father, being open and accepting, warmly assures them that one day they will. And that they shall live without worry and rest easy without worry. “Son, you and your brothers should just believe. Believe that you will achieve what you dream of, and do not overthink things. Just pray, and believe in me.” His children do so and follow his instructions. They rest, pray, and sleep peacefully. Yet they could not just shake off the doubt that they would not be able to fulfill their dreams. Eventually, they rest easy and believe in their Father.

A new day begins, and the other birds chirping can be heard. Shining bright, the four calling birds sing their songs, sitting on a tree branch as old as time. They do what they usually do, and start their day off. Angel, the first, approaches a piece of paper. He decided to start singing, as per usual. He finds that the words he sings appear on the paper. The ink slowly appears as he sings more and more words. Amazed, he calls the attention of his brothers. “My brothers, I can write! I can write through singing!” Angel announces. They all stare at the paper with excitement. They all fly up to their Father and thank him for the blessing he gave them. “I see that you have discovered your new ability. Use it wisely, and you will be rewarded with more. Just remember to always believe in me, never overthink things, and pray.” The wise words of their Father.

The Four Evangelists – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John – are the luminous towering beacons of faith, as their words resonate across centuries to guide the hearts of believers. These devoted Christians, fueled by unwavering passion and love for God, captured the life and teachings of Jesus Christ in their Gospels. Each of their accounts offers a unique lens into the Savior’s journey, painting a mosaic of divine grace and redemption. Their words are more than ink on parchment – they are rivers of hope, flowing into the soul and offering solace and peace to the weary and strength to the steadfast.
